Leader of the Labour group on ERYC, Cllr Steve Gallant, brought a motion before council in January this year to fast-track home adaptations for residents with progressive terminal conditions such as Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
East Riding residents with progressive terminal conditions have often faced unacceptable waits for these vital modifications as their situations worsen.
Labour’s proposal won cross-party support and the measure was passed unanimously.
Thanks to Steve, these residents are now ensured faster installation of essential equipment like ramps and grab rails to allow them to continue living in their own homes.
